It’s mostly been a head’s down and work sort of day today between moving ever so slowly ahead on the SimpleDB book and my usual reviews.com work…so I’m at a little bit of a loss for an interesting topic to post about tonight. So I’ve decided to go ahead and list out a few things I hope to do some day…who knows if I’ll ever get around to doing all (or any) of these things, but at the moment they are all on my “someday” list:
1. Write a screen play. Anyone that knows the offline me, probably knows that I’m a huge movie fan…I spend a lot of my limited free time watching movies, and I often watch movies while I work too. So I’ve seen my share of great ones as well as horrible ones, and I’ve always felt like I could at least write a horrible movie…but saying and doing are two different things, and I really feel like I have no room to criticize any screen play until I’ve at least gone through the experience (and hard work) of writing one.
Of course the problem so far has been the lack of a solid and complete idea…sure I have lots of different tid-bits and ideas, but none that have felt good enough to start folowing up on.
2. Open Mic. night at a comedy club. I’m not really sure why I want to do this, but it’s been a really big itch lately. From the research I’ve done, I can get five minutes on stage for a mere $5.00…and though I don’t really have any material together (and especially no act), it seems like five minutes isn’t too long a time to fill (even if I’m bombing – which I most likely would the first few times at least).
To be honest, I think I’m most interested in trying this because most people just wouldn’t…and I kind of like to put myself into uncomfortable situations that I can grow from…getting up in front of strangers for a few minutes, trying to make them laugh seems like a perfect scenario for that (plus it gives me a chance to work on my public speaking and speach pacing/timing).
3. Run a 5k in under 30 minutes. A friend of mine recently completed a 5k in 29 minutes and 30 seconds…and for some reason that makes me want to prove to myself that I could do that too. I can already do it easily on the treadmill, but street running (and in a public event) is a whole different game…so I’m not sure how easy or hard it would actually be for me to accomplish. But trying it out is easy enough, and so I’m probably going to find a local 5k one day soon and just give it a shot to see where I’m at…if I don’t get it the first time out, at least I’ll know how much training I’ll need before I try again.
4. Make a video for facebook/youtube…I’ve been bouncing around a few (I think funny) ideas for videos I’d like to make and share on facebook/youtube…I just haven’t taken the time to record, edit, and upload any of my ideas. Hopefully I’ll find a few hours one day to play around with this.
I have a few other things on my short bucket-list but these are the ones closest to the top (that I think I’ll actually attempt before too long)…
So what’s on your short-list?
