Santa has his list, and he’s likely checked it twice by now. So today I’m using him as my inspiration and spending a good portion of the day fleshing out a master list of little things I need to accomplish over the next few days and weeks.
I’m actually a big list keeper. Partially because I’ve historically been involved in way more than I can keep track of in just my head…and partially because I like the feeling of crossing things off when they are complete.
Also, I find lists freeing as I often obsess about an idea or an action item until I either complete it or at least get it on a list where I know it won’t get lost (looking at old lists of my ideas and thoughts is also a fun way for me to kill an afternoon when I’m feeling less motivated).
As of late, I’ve been trying to keep many of my lists in Trello so that they can be centralized (and sharable with my team)…but I still have to get a bit more efficient with it before it’s truly my main list-management service.
The reality is that I still keep about 50% of my lists on paper in notebooks next to my (home) desk or scribbled on the white board near my desk…and so every few days I’ve got to spend at least a little time consolidating, scrubbing, and prioritizing those lists.
Today is one of those days.
